Rant:
Don’t tailgate me!

In this section of Reforma, puny cyclists and multi-ton buses are meant to share the same lane, as cars get their own two exclusive lanes. I don’t mind this setup as a driver, and as a cyclist I’ve realized that I can go quicker than the bus since it has to stop.

Shamefully, it seems like taxi drivers invaded our utopic lane of low cost, low emissions, and quick travel. now, I always move over to let the bus pass, because its a freaking bus. But the Taxis. Nope. they are not allowed in this lane. so when I see one, and when they try to tailgate me as some sort of pressure,

I slow down.

It seriously brings the worst out of me. Same is true with cars. I don’t understand how, but it seems like Dacia Dusters are the best tailgaters in the planet. and when they tailgate me

I slow down.

I know one day it’s gonna backfire, but for fucks sake people.

You’re not alone. When somebody is tailgating me I’ll slow down to the speed limit. I used to work with a guy who was a horrible driver and he whined to me and our boss one day that people wouldn’t speed up when he tailgated them. He was shocked that both of us said we actually slowed down when people did that to us. Given that both of us were car guys that drove quickly he just assumed that we drove like him. We did not.

Taxis specially irritate me... because only a handful use the bus lane. The ones that actually follow the law have to stay in traffic an additional ten or fifteen minutes

I dislike shared bus lanes because I usually  end up playing leapfrog with a bus.

I do the same. Generally it causes them to get even closer. At which I generally end up 5-10mph under the limit.......If they really don’t get the hint at that, a simple 2 gear downshift usually does the trick.

There are many stops in this lane, so its hard for the bus to catch up to me, usually I overtake several busses every time.

I admit its not  the ideal solution... but it is the one we have

Ah, the slow burn method. I do use it at times.
